Remembering The Past So I'm back with more of my craft. This one was for Natasha as I didn't get the chance to make it, in time for her birthday party back in December 2013. 

Lincraft :: Small letter block, the wooden box, wood pieces (the shelf). Typo :: Big letter block, the chalkboard, scrapbook paper. The Reject Shop :: Wooden blocks. Lovisa :: Earrings, bracelet. 

The idea of the shelf actually came from the movie, The Book Thief. I was watching the movie a few days before the plan for this present started. When I was planning, I could only came up with the shelf and the big letter block positioned next to it. So I just decided to start with that and hope that ideas for the right side would come flowing out. 

I started making the shelf by measuring the length of the shelf, sawing and then painting it dark brown. Once they were dry, I used hot glue to stuck them on the chalkboard, taking note of the height of the blocks. I started painting the blocks straight after. Before painting, I looked up some designs of old textbook and tried copying them, which turned out to look horrible. Haha. I also printed out photos and stuck them on the front, then on the spine I wrote things that would correspond to the photo. 

The next part is the big letter block, which is pretty simple as it looked. I just traced the letter block onto the scrapbook paper I bought from Typo, cut it and then stuck it on with PVA glue. Then I wrote my message, trying to be neat as possible... My writing looking terrible than ever.  To stick the letter on the chalkboard, I actually used double sided tape as well as hot glue, just to make sure it doesn't fall off. 

Right. Now on to the rest of the present. I had many ideas for this side but I'm not a hundred percent sure how I ended up with branches. I think I might have been doing photography browsing and saw a photo. The photo was taken on a snowy day, where the branches were white as they were covered in snow. So that's where I got the idea of cutting small branches from my dad's garden (our backyard is turning into a mini jungle) and then painting them white. I had to snap some branches and glue some just so they are positioned the way I wanted. As for the box, I just painted it grey and used scrapbook paper to cover the front and stuck it with hot glue. Then I just placed jewellery from Lovisa on the branches and on the box.
