It was a beautiful morning on the day of the wedding. Me and my sister taxied to my cousin's house, at around 8am to attend the 1st tea ceremony. The 1st tea ceremony or some would say "receiving the bride at her house" or permission ceremony is part of the traditional Vietnamese wedding where the groom arrives with his close friends and family at the brides house , holding lacquer boxes, covered with a red cloth. Inside the boxes are gifts including betel, fruit, cakes, a roasted pig (it wasn't in the boxes...just saying) and fabric. When the groom arrives, the bride's close friends will take the gifts and then everyone is led inside the bride's house, where the ceremony begins in front of the bride's ancestor alter. Then the bride is brought out, accompanied by her dad. The bride and groom burned incense sticks and then the couple turns and bow to the parents and then serve them tea. After that, a similar tea ceremony happened at the groom's house.
Well enough of that... so in between those events up there, when me and my sister arrived at my cousin's house, she and her bridesmaids were still getting ready and we had to get ready too. We wore traditional Vietnamese dresses called ao dai and we just lagged behind taking photos and talking to our cousins who we haven't seen since last year, so it was nice. We had lunch at the groom's house but we had to go back to the bride's house to change into "normal" dresses for the modern wedding ceremony. Once we were ready, we went straight to the wedding venue at The Lake at Forest Lake. On arrival, the shelter place was decorated with bouquet balls, chairs tied with white ribbon and there's a place for snacking. I started snapping away when the flower girl and the page boy started walking down. The ceremony was much shorter than the church ceremony, which was good because there weren't many seats so some people had to stand... including me. Me and my sister didn't go to the reception because we had church on that day. Anyways, enough writing, time for photos.
